Sell at the Showroom – Terms and Conditions

Consignment Sale – What is it?

At Bridal Stories, you can sell your item on consignment in our showroom.

This means that we do not purchase your item, but sell it for you through our consignment service, acting as intermediaries in the sale.

Consignment consists of delivering goods to a seller (the intermediary, in this case, Bridal Stories). The goods remain the property of the supplier (i.e., the bride) until sold through us to a third party.

Before submitting your item via the form, please read our conditions:

Evaluation and Quality Control

All items submitted for sale in the showroom undergo curation, starting with an online pre-assessment and, if selected, followed by an in-person evaluation.

If your item is approved in the in-person evaluation, a consignment agreement is signed and the consignment service fee is paid at the time of delivery.

1. Submit your item for online evaluation

How does the online pre-assessment work?

To sell in the showroom, follow these steps:

  • Check your item’s condition at home.
  • Submit the pre-assessment form on our website.
  • Wait for our free pre-assessment feedback via email.
  • If pre-selected, schedule the in-person evaluation or shipment of your item.

2. If accepted, the item will be evaluated in person

How does the in-person evaluation work?

After pre-selection:

  • Schedule an in-person evaluation within 30 days.
  • Item accepted: payment of the service fee and signing of the consignment contract at delivery.
  • Item not accepted: proposal for minor repair/cleaning (quoted separately) or rejection of the item.
  • If sold: 50% commission paid via bank transfer.

  • Send via registered mail, postage paid by sender, with tracking number provided.
  • Item evaluation: online live or via an “unboxing” video.
  • Item accepted: payment of service fee and contract signature.

  • If sold: 50% commission paid via bank transfer.

Consignment Service

Consignment is a paid service, costing €95 for a period of 12 months. This corresponds to €7.92 per month to manage the entire sale.

When you leave your item in the showroom, we take care of it during consignment so you don’t have to worry!

  • Gain more space in your closet
  • We photograph and promote your dress
  • We handle all fittings and appointments
  • Most importantly, we sell your dress for you!

This service includes:

  • Storage: exhibition space, insurance, alarm system, administrative management of your item.
  • Maintenance: keeping it in impeccable condition, including ironing with distilled water or sanitizing spray if necessary, minor repairs like replacing missing buttons. Professional cleaning is not included.
  • Promotion: photography, listing on our website, description, online advertising, appointment management, etc.

Minimum consignment: 12 months – single annual payment.

Item valuation

Get an estimated sale price using our simulator on our platform. This value is indicative and does not represent a detailed analysis.

The pre-assessment considers: condition, age, finishes, style, market value, and likelihood of sale. The estimated price is sent by email and finalized during the in-person evaluation.

Generally, we accept dresses from the last 5 years for a 12-month period.

In the second-hand market, a quality, well-maintained dress can usually sell for around 50% of its original price.

Commission

Your commission is 50% of the final sale price, paid after the sale.

Delivery or shipment for evaluation

  • Once pre-selected, schedule the evaluation via a link.
  • Items can be delivered in person or shipped via a courier.
  • Within Lisbon: use same-day services like local couriers or Uber Encomendas (Uber app).
  • Outside Lisbon: simulate home pickup with CTT Expresso or Eurosender.

We have no partnership with these companies and are not responsible for shipments; they are listed for reference only.

How to ship an item

See this page for guidance on packaging and sending your item.

Response time

We receive many requests daily and cannot accept all dresses. Your pre-assessment request will be on a waiting list without commitment. Our selection is rigorous, based on curation, existing stock, space, and demand. Response time may vary depending on the season, but we aim to respond within 15 days.

How to describe your item

  • Detail: More detailed descriptions increase your chances of being selected.
  • Honesty: List all flaws or stains; a dress without surprises sells easier.
  • Cleaning: State if professionally cleaned and note any visible stains.
  • Inner label: Include for authenticity and care instructions.
  • Alterations: Mention any modifications, added or removed pieces.
