At Bridal Stories, in addition to celebrating sustainability in weddings through the reuse of wedding dresses and giving new stories to them, we have a more personal approach to our fittings. I know that weddings are more than just dresses: weddings are about emotions, celebrating love with your friends and family. That's why we welcome brides as long-time friends, with personalized attention.
With each bride who contacts us, we immediately start imagining ideas, but first we will always ask you to reflect on your style and what you want to convey on your wedding day, whether it's civil, religious, or symbolic.
We will try on dresses of various styles and silhouettes to find what you like best and what suits your style. At the same time, I believe that wedding dresses can be the beginning of a small "revolution" and can reflect an increasingly sustainable awareness around fashion.
Events and weddings have always been associated with love, but also with waste. How can we change this narrative by creating a more positive impact?
After several years working with circular fashion, I learned that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, but it seems that in bridal fashion this issue is still overlooked. This is the beginning of a movement that aims to change its course. At Bridal Stories, we want to reduce the environmental impact of weddings by promoting a way of consuming aligned with the limits of the planet and based on the circular economy.
One way to do this is precisely this: reusing dresses worn only once, often for less than 24 hours, and forgotten in closets!
We also believe that everyone has the right to wear the dress of their dreams, regardless of their size, shape, or budget. We believe that, as a bride, you deserve to feel good on your special day – and we know how difficult that can be without knowing everything about this bridal world.

What things have a large environmental impact and are used for a short time?
Wedding dresses!
A wedding dress, worn for only a few hours, is by definition one of the least sustainable pieces of clothing you will own.
The best thing you can do for the environment is to choose a wedding dress that already exists!
There are a variety of factors that determine the final environmental cost of a wedding dress – after all, wedding dresses have had their impact during their manufacture: from the origin of the fabrics and their mass production, synthetic materials (which may be derived from petroleum) or special high-quality materials, treatment of fabrics with chemicals, to their production with unique patterns (pattern making), their transport, packaging, finishing, to distribution and end of life. And since many of them are made abroad, we also have to worry about the working conditions of the workers who produced the dresses and accessories.
At Bridal Stories, we give a second life to wedding dresses sitting in brides' closets, making bridal fashion more circular and sustainable. The goal is to reduce textile waste and value the artisan work invested in the creation of these pieces – we must honor that.
This was the inspiration that led Teresa Simões, founder of Bridal Stories, to open a showroom for pre-loved, vintage, and outlet wedding dresses in October 2021, after a year of research into various business models.
At the showroom in Lisbon, brides can try on dresses with our help and get advice on the style that best suits them. Here you can find pre-loved, vintage, or outlet wedding dresses and sell your dress on consignment, selected through a prior curation process.
Essentially, we work from brides to brides: we sell quality dresses that are looking for new homes, new memories, and a second life!
